I'm the Family IT Guy
I am the Family IT Guy. From wiring telephones and faxes to full service internet technician and printer serviceman, I got it handled… usually. Who’s with me? Anyone else ever found themselves outside on a ladder looking at a satellite dish with a phone in one hand and hammer in the other? No? What about unplugging, powering off and re-plugging the router? OK, I thought so.
I have the skills of your average Mumbai Academy of Technology graduate just from years of customer service run-throughs. I could walk you through a DVR install with my eyes shut and setup your modem after a six pack of Martinis, I’ve done it. Viruses? Call me the Vaccine. I got it handled.
When my wife gently calls out into the night, “The damned internet is out again!” I drop everything and come running. I’m ready to power down and wait 30 seconds, then check the power chord. For sure. I’ll have that internet up faster than you can call India. I trace wires, run cables and install software. I upload, download, power up, power down, I Google things, FTP things, run it in DOS and Un-Zip it, re-zip it and mail it back. And no, I won’t open your email with the free $500 gift card. Why? Because I’m the family IT Guy.
